If you don’t want to read the instructions here and there or you read them but still don’t know how to use the plugin, just watch these videos. The only premise is that you’ve successfully installed and activated the plugin.
I made these videos in the hope that they will give you a quick start. If you’ve got any further questions: just ask.
Introduction
This video shows you how to activate a SmoothGallery and set some options.
You can watch it here, on blip.tv or on YouTube.
Integrate a gallery into your theme
This video shows you how to integrate a SmoothGallery into your theme by implementing the insertSmoothGallery function. I’m using one of the conditional tags: you can read more about them here.
You can watch it here, on blip.tv or on YouTube.
How to implement a carousel
In this video I demonstrate how to implement a carousel with SmoothGallery: I’m fixing Matt’s page. All that’s left to do is to add an option saying carousel=true to the custom field smoothgallery. Furthermore you’ll have to insert img tags with the class set to thumbnail.
You can watch it here, on blip.tv or on YouTube.
Multiple galleries on a single page
This shows you how to have two SmoothGalleries on a single page.
You can watch it here, on blip.tv or on YouTube.
Automatically generated markup
In this short video I present a new feature: if you attach images to a post or page the markup for the gallery will be generated automatically for you. All you have to do is to copy and paste it somewhere inside your post or page.

these are extremely useful, sometimes seeing and hearing is better than the typed words!
Thanks for that utility.
Beimg totally new to web design etc, I haven’t got a clue how to successfully install and activate the plugin (I hope to use smoothgalery 2 but your version 1.6 would be fine as well).
Could you give me some instructions how to do this please?
the plugin uses SmoothGallery 2 – the plugin has got its own version (1.6). These versions aren’t related to each other.
Just download the plugin here, unzip it into
wp-content/plugins, go to your plugins screen and click on activate. Then follow these instructions or watch the videos on this page. The first video doesn’t work it says its not on you tube any more? Are you updating it? Just curious
hm, somebody else just told me the same thing but the videos are working here. For the moment I don’t know what’s happening there…
I just noticed the intro youtube was no longer available as well. I am trying to implement the plugin on a new site!
Thanks, David
I’ve uploaded the videos to blip.tv and added links to them everywhere. So if the video on YouTube isn’t working for you, you can switch over to blip.tv. Anyway, I recommend using blip.tv in the future since it seems to be much more professional than YouTube.
And In your video, you are nor adding [smoothgallery] to the text. without that nothing is working here.
if you’ve already added the pictures to your page, say, with the
[gallery]shortcode, you’ll have to remove these from your page’s content if you just want the SmoothGallery. As for the videos, I’m looking forward to create new ones as soon as I can because they’re a bit outdated and don’t reflect the most recent features of the plugin.
please read this comment.
are you using the widget? If that’s the case it’ll appear on all pages in your sidebar. To work around that you should have a look at Widget Logic: this plugin should help you to display the widget only under “For Sale”.
But i need help, i dont know what to do to put this plugin on my page. I wanna put in the index, right above the first post. How should I proceed? The plugin is already installed, but I dont know how to make this work, and i dont know work with .CSS. Can u help me with more details?
Thanks!

il want the same thing for my website. How do i add smoothgallery to my wordpress theme ?
how can i show thumb pic from my new post inside smoothgallery ? and if you click on the pic smoothgallery it will redirect you to the posted news where i inserted the pic.
sorry for my bad english
I recommend adding a sidebar to your theme, using the widget that comes with the plugin to display the gallery.
Enable the generation of thumbnails. You can read about that here.
Just set some custom links for your images. Here is an explanation.
I want to say that at first coming to a page, the user will see the thumblailed view of the different galleries which I want to show in the smooth slider . While they click on any of those galleries, they would be able to see the entire gallery in smooth gallery….. : (
you could use the Gallery Set feature of SmoothGallery – unfortunately the plugin doesn’t support this right now so you’ll have to insert the necessary markup manually.
Alternatively, you could insert a gallery with the thumbnails on one page and link the individual thumbnails to other pages that contain the complete galleries. Check out how to set custom links.
